Review by Ginger Mayerson

Okay, the sex, sorry, SEXXX, is in the last four stories at the end, which are unrelated to the main story, "Selfish Love." So, this being the kind of review that this is, let me deal with them first. They're those kind of sex scenes I still call "happy rapes," but in the yaoi context they're staring to grow on me. Either the sub isn't fighting too seriously or seriously being hurt, or he puts himself in a position to have sex with the hunky top, and protest all the while. Methinks the sub doth protest too much, yea verily, brother. Anyway, these stories make up for the dearth of sex in the main story, which I will tell you about right now.

This story is about class warfare. The rich university student, Orito, is trying to buy the poor university student, Ryuya. It is more complex than that, but mostly this book is about Orito's pursuit of Ryuya, with the occasional Ryuya-mauling and occasional glimpse of what a jerk and nice guy Orito is (or could be). Most of the jokes fell flat for me, some of the story was very sad, but what kept me reading, and will make me seek out any sequels, was the creepy relationship that does evolve between Orito and Ryuya. Basically, Orito just runs Ryuya into the ground with his rough and relentless courting. (Now that I think about it, there nothing but rough and relentless courting in this title. So it's trend, not a theme.) This intrigued me more than impressed me, but I would like to see how the sex scenes, if there are any, shake out between Orito and Ryuya in the sequel(s).

This is a pricy little tome at $16.00 USD a crack, but you get a lot of story and a lot of sex scenes for that money, so, if you, like me, like this kind of thing this could be the book for you.
