Review by Kathy LaFollett
If you are female aged 13 - 101, you'll be enamored with this story. If you are over 21 you'll find yourself giggling while reading as your own parallel memories are coaxed alongside the storyline.
Really, the collaborating authors known as Libby Street have offered a wonderful avenue bringing back gentle memories of being a young, confused, scared, and a dramatically driven female. Doesn't matter when you were that age, yesterday or 50 years ago, moments will stir in your heart and you will giggle and smile all the way to the end of Happiness Sold Separately.
Ryan Hadley channels the reader's past experiences through her own. A fresh New York transplant, arriving with big plans and big dreams only to wake up months later to feel incomplete, empty, and off target. Did she compromise? Did she fall behind? Did she waste time to a thin variation of her dreams? Her two best friends snag great promotions while revealing it was THEIR plan all along! Her best male friend stands on the precipice of being a major rock star; HIS plan all along!
Yes our poor channeling heroine missed her boat and her man.
Enter an old flame, whom was badly burned by our own Ryan Hadley. The plot thickens.
A charming, feminine, female big city trial of errors ending with a 5 year plan with an item titled "Become the Queen of a small island nation". God, you just HAVE to love Ryan.
A beach novel. A warm tea, afghan, over-stuffed chair novel. A Oreo cookie-n-milk novel. A waiting for my son's Karate Class to be done novel (Okay, that one's mine).
I loved this book so much I gave it to my daughter.
If you know what "Sex and the City" is, if you are familiar with Bridget Jones, Happiness Sold Separately too, will please.
