Again Karl Christian offers up a Black and White orgy of character interaction and development.
Angst Boy Number 5 opens with a montage of inks, photos and topography; a veritable smorgasbord of itchy thoughts. Karl as an alter boy, BATBOY from the tabloids, lyrics from David Bowie (his hallucinogenic years) toon-girls of polar emotions and the opening salvo of Angst, "The cogs and gears of Angst's brain shuddered, locked, and gave up."
God I love Karl Christian's synapses.
Number 5 walks the path of Angst and Relationship Envy. Others are happy. Others are getting along with...others. SHOULD he have a girlfriend? Should he even consider that as a goal? What does one do?
Angst sucks at light conversation. He's got enough going on in that head of his, and cannot summate small talk value within the context of his angst.
His date, being female, has little trouble prattling on. Alcohol seems to lighten the load, but alas, poor Angst is left sober and unsure of what a relationship is supposed to do for his tortured moment on this planet.
Thankfully, she just wants to be "friends."
Is it his Karma or her PMS? Who the hell knows?
Number 6 is my favorite of the two. Karl allows us to slosh through a night of debauchery with Angst. You only THOUGHT you were drunk during college. You don't know drunk until you've swum the tides of Angst's .8 blood alcohol.
I was sober all those years and didn't even know it.
Lucretia plays herself while in the hand puppet sequence is played by non-other than Mr Alligator.
There's a alternate universe of hand puppets as well as "Perki Girl Comics" first run. Karl, you are an evil genius.
In the end, it isn't Angst that says, "Fuck".
So ya, he's got that going for him.
