Review by Kris
Cho-Ah has finally started high school. She was expecting to be able to start fresh and have everyone think that she's a girly girl and snag herself a ultra hot boyfriend. Thinking that her contract had been fulfilled with Jay and Aru she truly thought that there was nothing to surprise her. Boy was she in for a surprise. It turns out that her contract hadn't been fulfilled after all. Cho-Ah is required to spend the next year together doing good deeds. Cards have been left all over town. Jay, Aru, and Cho-Ah have to find the cards and help whoever holds the card.
Cho-Ah is not looking forward to this new development. Her parents are in America so she and her younger brother are living with their aunt. Since Cho-Ah's birthday is coming up soon she gives Aru and Jay strict instructions about getting her an excellent birthday present since our magical friends left out the tiny detail of the year long commitment. At school early the next morning as a surprise for Cho-Ah Aru decides to cause everything to float around the classroom. Aru thought that no one else would show up, but to their surprise one of their classmates wandered into the middle of the floating chaos. Rushing out of the class with classmate in tow, Cho-Ah drags him up to the rooftop. It turns out that the mysterious classmate is the fabulous, handsome Mr. S, a super hot celebrity, incognito. Mr. S wants to help out with Aru, Jay, and Cho-Ah's mission to help those around them. Cho-Ah doesn't want to but Mr.S decides to blackmail Cho-Ah and she has no choice but to accept it.
The first card shows up that exact day. It is in the possession of one of Jay, Aru, and Cho-Ah's classmates. Her name is Lee-Ah Ah. She seems to be really quiet and doesn't hang out with anyone. Cho-Ah decides to get to know Lee-Ah and find out what her card is. When they discover what is on the card Cho-Ah decides to do what she can to help Lee-Ah in her time of need. Who knew that Cho-Ah's love of fairy tales would come in handy. Read Magical JxR vol 2 to find out what is needed to help Lee-Ah and be surprised at the cliff hanger ending.
I hope I didn't spoil too much for you and read my review of Magical JxR vol. 1 by clicking on the link. The story continues to be an amazing body of work and I don't know if I will be able to wait until the end of the month for the third volume. The story ends on quite the cliffhanger. The characters are becoming more and more interesting. I think I've been reading way too much boys love because while I've been reading I haven't wanted anyone to break up our team of Jay and Aru and I want them to get together. Also I think that a romance between Cho-Ah and Mr. S is brewing. Hmm... I giggled while reading the first one but laughed out loud while reading this volume. I really look forward to the other two volumes. If things continue along the path that they are on now, I have to say that Magical JxR will be one of my favorite series. Only time will tell (since I have to wait for the upcoming volumes). Like the first volume there is a full color fold out page at the very front and it is a larger size. I have come to enjoy UDON titles and I look forward to reading more from this publisher. And a great one to start with is Magical JxR.
