There were scantily dressed men. ![]() Scantily dressed women. ![]() A girl with a pizza. ![]() A friend of Captain Harlock. ![]() Hard Gay. ![]() Guy wearing geta (getas?) ![]() Big cameras. ![]() Ninja. ![]() But first I got to stand in line for a very long time to pick up my pre-registered press pass, ![]() while this large group of people registered on the spot. ![]() I was intimidated by the size of her camera and the fit of her jumpsuit. ![]() Other people waiting ![]() and waiting ![]() The floor we stood on while waiting. ![]() Then I went to the Keynote address, where Trulee Karahasi talked about The Society for the Promotion of Japanese Animation and The Future and some professional staff training the SPJA did recently. Oh, and that attendance last year in Long Beach was 44,000 and they expect it to be 47,000 this year, recession and gas prices notwithstanding. ![]() Said hi to Chase Wang who handles SPJA's PR. ![]() He was mostly busy with his lieutenants ![]() Chase is the coolest guy on earth. I yelled at him once because the Sheridan Hotel, where the press passes were, was not the Hilton Hotel, where I was, and somehow that was his fault. He's still incredibly nice to me every time I see him, even with this horrible incident in our past (sorry, Chase). Then I wandered around. I thought this girl ![]() Had a certain amount of vivivavoom, but I could only capture it in sections. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Don't say I never do nothin' for ya, fanboys. Due to poor planning on my part, I was only able to be at the convention that morning, but it was still wonderful and exhausting. Tomorrow will be...different. Click here for a lot more pictures. I didn't always know what I was shooting, but I thought it was worthy of being shot. Replies: 3 comments Cool pictures of the first Yuna, Lulu, Bahamut? And the Weapon Props table... wow don't know if Otakon will do that, but pretty neat. Did you go as press? Posted by Linda @ 07/07/2008 05:45 AM PST Thanks for taking my picture! I was the friend of Harlock(i'm the maetel cosplayer). Glad someone recognized me and liked the costume since it was extremely hot to wear. Posted by Amanda @ 07/19/2008 03:06 AM PST Hey, any friend of Harlock is a friend of mine. Maetel, I could not remember that name to save my life, thanks. I've only watched "Arcadia of my Youth" and the OVA from a few years ago. But I am a very big Captain Harlock fan. Thanks for wearing that costume. It was great!
