Review by Linda Yau

Pretty Poison is about Riyako, a woman who dreams of a happy marriage, but that is shattered when she realizes that her boyfriend has been stringing her along with two or three other girls. She finds herself seduced by Shogo, a young man that results in a night of hot passion. Afterwards though, Riyako realized that Shogo and her ex-boyfriend might be connected. Shogo turns out to be a passionate problem that Riyako can't help, but become addicted. Their love affair ensues as problems and secrets comes back to haunt them.

There's another story following the main story, Yuji Scores and this is a short one-shot of Chisa with her soccer player fiance, Yuji. He has just proposed to her, so Chisa for most of the story worried about not being worthy of him. This story is not as explicit as Pretty Poison, but is cute in its own potential.

Pretty Poison is the most recent release from Luv Luv Press. JLHLS, started to receive previews from this publisher several months ago. I have to say of the few books I have read from this publisher, this is the one that I like the most. Somehow the art and story got to me, with the broody dark guy made me feel shivery. I was also intrigued by the presence of a flower thong underwear that the females seem to wear. Many of the graphic novels I read does deal with homosexual pairing, but I feel that with the possibility of there being made available graphic novels with hetero pairings, then there is some niche for the females that doesn't want the gay pairings.
