Yaoi Jamboree, Glendale AZ, Day 1

Rachel Livingston let me hitch a ride with her to Glendale Arizona for Yaoi Jamboree. She picked me up at 2AM (my neighbors must be scandalized; they never see me up that late) and we drove into the desert. I don't have any pictures of this, sorry, it was just dark and empty. [more]

Ring My Bell
Written by BA Tortuga

Review by Linda Yau

In Colin's opinion, ringing a bell for charity is a horrible way to spend the holiday. Three hours on the job, his fingers are numb, his ears are ringing and if he has to listen to other people wish him happy holidays, he's going to be pissed off.

It is this setting that set him up to rescue the naked and muddy Gaz (Gazardiel) from the side of the road. What made this situation strange though were the white loose feathers when Colin found Gaz and the bloodied stubs on his back. [more]

Review by Jilly Gee

Beck Phillips wasn't exactly living a normal life before he was sent to live with his Uncle Aeron in Kingsplot; his father had left when he was a baby and he and his mother moved from location to location, his mother never able to hold a steady job because of her worsening mental health. Still, he went to school like a normal teenage boy, got into trouble like a normal teenage boy, and flirted with girls way out of his league like a normal teenage boy. It is when he is sent to his uncle's house in Kingsplot that things take a turn for the downright strange.

Despite Aeron's supposed wealth, there are but four workers in the entire manor, all of whom tell him not to go poking his nose where he shouldn't. Not that they are unkind; they kindly tell him to leave locked doors locked. Of course, saying that to a curious, young man has the same effect as just shoving him headlong into the unknown; he explores a basement that he was told does not exist by the staff and a conservatory with no entrance. How did he get into said conservatory? Why, he asked the ivy to grow for him so he could climb it. [more]

Dancing on the Head of a Pin
by Kiernan Kelly
Printed in the USA by Torquere Press, Copyright 2007

Review by Ida Vega-Landow

Would you give up your immortal soul for eternal love? How about just a piece of it? That's what happens when Malak meets Cael, one fine morning in the infamous city of Sodom. Malak is a beautiful, black-haired angel, one of the seraphim sent to punish the ungodly people of that wicked city, and Cael is a handsome blond demon who enjoys sneaking out of hell to revel in the pleasures of the flesh, which is what Sodom and her sister city Gomorrah specialized in. Magical JxR vol. 1
Story and Art: Lee Sun-Young
Published by UDON Entertainment
ISBN-10: 1-897376-61-8
ISBN-13: 978-1-897376-61-4

Review by Kris

Magical JxR by Lee Sun-Young is a four volume manwha (Korean manga) series. It's the tale of two wizards in the human world.

Aru and Jay are wizard apprentices and study partners in magic school. Aru uses fire based magic. He's not the best student and is kind of an airhead but he's cheerful and sincere. Jay uses water based magic. He's the exact opposite of Aru. He's an excellent student, thoughtful, but a tad cool and aloof. At their magic school when study partners are assigned it's the teachers who pair them up. They also assign them based on the source of magic. In Jay and Aru's case, however, they chose each other to be partners.

Cho-Ah Nam is your typical 16-year-old, with a few exceptions. She's always loved fairy tales, especially Alice in Wonderland. She imagines her world as though it's a shojo manga and she really wants to be seen as a feminine girly girl. There is one thing standing in her way. Her dad is a national Taekwondo champion and has a famous high kick. It seems as though Cho-Ah inherited her father's genes and has a killer high kick as well. Since she has the reputation of being able to kick butt and take names she strikes fear into the hearts of many. But Cho-Ah just wants to be seen as a cute sweet girl that she can sometimes be. I cannot deny that I was absolutely thrilled to get my paws on the second volume of Yakuza in Love. I was a little concerned that, as with many trilogies, it might fall victim to the dreaded "saggy middle" syndrome. Well, has it? [more]

Gary is stuck spending his Christmas holidays with his grandmother. Thinking that this would be a boring holiday, he was pleasantly surprised when the errands turned out to be amusing. Errant running also had him meeting Troy the hunky neighborhood gym trainer who is interested in him - an exercise deficient teacher. [more]
